Last week Sara McGregor’s Capitol Catering suffered a great loss at the death of Sara McGregor’s sister, Jill McGregor. Jill passed on October 14th after a 17 year battle with breast cancer. Jill was an amazing woman who accomplished much throughout her life, and inspired many; however her greatest pride were her two children. “The Jill McGregor Memorial for Moms with Breast Cancer” has been set up in her honor to help families who lose their mothers to breast cancer. If you would like to make a contribution please send it to 2316 Jefferson Davis Highway Alexandria VA 22301. All funds collected from the memorial will be used to help alleviate costs for families that are associated with the loss of their mother to breast cancer.
Supreme Court
The swearing in of Justice Kagan…
Sara McGregor’s Capitol Catering hosted a very exciting event this month at the US Supreme Court. As the new Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan was sworn in by President Obama, Capitol Catering prepared her celebratory reception in the neighboring room. After the ceremony, guests flooded in to congratulate the fourth female Justice of the Supreme Court, and to sample morsels of salmon with a triple mustard cream, cucumber cups filled with chicken salad, and delicate wraps stuffed with crab, mango, and a cilantro mint cream cheese. The elegant reception was attended by 350 guests including other Supreme Court Justices, Chief Justice Roberts, and several senators. We were so honored to participate in this historic event!

Alice Awards
On September 22nd Sara McGregor’s Capitol Catering had the privilege of providing a beautiful luncheon to the 300 guests and participants of the Alice Awards. The Alice Award is presented each year to a “distinguished woman who has made an outstanding contribution in breaking barriers and setting new precedents for women.” This year Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, received the award. Guests honored the accomplishments of Nancy Pelosi as they enjoyed breath taking views of the Capitol Building from the rooftop terrace and dined on a variety of delicious fare. The menu featured pulled Argentinian chicken with a mango and cilantro cream, orzo salad with grilled shrimp, asparagus, and feta crumbles, parmesan flan with balsamic heirloom tomato and micro green salad, and an assortment of deserts including cheesecake lollipops and banana foster tartlets.
